…is vibrant and culturally rich

How can we enable more of the City’s communities to enjoy the cultural and art activities that are offered?

  1. Opportunities for cross marketing of events should be encouraged as should jointly hosted events, or perhaps themed events which a number of organisations could contribute to. For example the Museum of London putting on a exhibition which is then followed by a production by the Barbican Centre on the same theme. This could be along the lines of the Mayor of London’s cultural events which pull big crowds and are remembered.

  2. Even though I try to keep up with what’s going on in the City, I often find that I discover interesting cultural events just after they’ve finished! Every cultural organisation seems to have its own mailing list/email circular etc (eg Barbican, GSMD, Bridewell Theatre, Art Gallery, Spitalfields Festivals, etc) but there’s no attempt to pull them all together onto a single website or email bulletin. Would this be possible? To be able to plan activities for 3/4/6 months ahead in the knowledge that you have the full range of events to hand would be so useful and maybe encourage more involvement.

  3. I agree wholeheartedly with the previous comment. A really good use of this website would be to provide a listing for City-based cultural events, including free festival events and activity in the Broadgate bowl. Depending on the views of others, dates for enrolment for educational courses and religious services, including Christmas carols or music and other events, could also be included. Entries could be minimal and full use made of links through to other websites.
The listing would both benefit the event in question, residents, workers and other visitors alike and, in the process, draw people to the site where other information could be also provided.
